The Swan Inn - Eye

Country Pub and Restaurant

Swan Inn, Hoxne Photo: Swan Inn, Hoxne

The Swan Inn is one of the best-known public houses and restaurants in Suffolk, situated in the sleepy, picturesque village of Hoxne.

Built in 1480 for the Bishop of Norwich, The Swan has a long history whereby both the restaurant and bars aptly reflect Hoxne's ecclesiastical past with their ornate ceiling beams, 10ft inglenook fireplace and ancient wide-planked floors.

The Grade II listed pub hosts a relaxed bar has two solid oak counters, heavy oak floors, and a deep-set inglenook fireplace; you can still see the ancient timber and mortar of the walls. A fire in the back bar divides the bar area and snug, and an original wooden fireplace can be found in the restaurant.

Landlords David and Jo-Ann, together with their Head Chef Sue Fulcher, ensure that the menu consists of fresh, local and seasonal produce prepared on the premises. The Swan is also vegetarian friendly, with at least 6 vegetarian options always available. Vegans can be catered for with prior notice. The Swan serves a wide range of ales, wines and spirits.

Thanks to Matthew at the Swan for submitting this listing. We have not yet checked whether they use vegetarian cheese and/or free range eggs or not in the dishes labeled as vegetarian, so do check.
